About Me:
I grew up in the mountains of Utah. I went to school at the University of Utah and received my Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Drawing and Painting in 2010. I have an amazing wife and 5 wonderful children. I love art (if you couldn't tell) and spending time with my family outdoors. I have 4 very close friends that I like to play nerd games with and have been friends with ever since I was a little kid. They have helped cultivate my love of fantasy and science fiction.
FAQs:
Q: How long have you been drawing and painting?
A: I have been drawing as long as I can remember. My mom and dad have always been great about encouraging me to use my talents and always gave me time and opportunities to cultivate my talents.
Q: How can I improve my own drawings and paintings?
A: Draw and paint as much as you can! While of course maintaining a healthy well balanced life. Study other artist, watch tutorials online, ask questions, go to lectures, classes and seminars. If possible take classes to see if you want to pursue a degree in art. Doing art is like learning a instrument, it takes hours and hour of practice to become a master.
Q: What artist inspire you?
A: I have many artists that have inspired me through out my life. I think the first when I was young was Larry Elmore. I love the work of Todd Lockwood, Kekai Kotaki and William O'Connor.
Q: What program do you use to create your paintings?
A: I am currently using Adobe Photoshop CS4. I will sometimes do my sketches in Corel Painter 11 but mostly just in my sketch book then scan the images. I use a VisTablet and stylus. Hope to upgrade to a Wacom Tablet soon.
Q: Do you paint from photos?
A: Most of the time I do not. If you are new or practicing I think it is a really good idea to use photo/live references to have more accurate drawings as those lead to more accurate paintings. I think before you make up your own stuff you need to have lots of practice looking at the references. With that said, I do use photo references to do sketches when I am trying to plan for a painting.
